Fall Is the Perfect Time to Attend a College Fair!

Attending a college fair is a great way to learn about colleges and the programs and majors they offer. You can demonstrate interest in your favorite colleges and learn about others you may never have thought to explore. These fairs also provide a perfect opportunity to meet the admissions representatives most likely to read your college application! College fairs are a great way to jumpstart your college search or to enhance the process you have already begun, so get out there and explore.

Ask your school counselor about college fairs in your area, and plan to attend the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC)'s Fall Fairs at the University of New Hampshire, October 7-8.

The College Essay

Let's face it ‑ writing a college essay is no easy task! You are anxious because you want to make sure your topic is interesting, appropriate, and meaningful. At the same time, you want to express who you are honestly and passionately to the admission staff. And on top of all of this, you have to be aware of application deadlines.

How do you accomplish these tasks in 650 words or less and complete everything on time? Consider making yourself a timeline to accomplish your goals. The college essay is not something you can complete in just one sitting. You will need time to research topics, brainstorm your ideas, create a rough draft, review the draft with teachers or counselors, and finalize your essay for submission. Get more insight on writing an effective college essay here.
